Our History
The history of Harmony Baptist Church is one filled with many names
From Humble Beginnings
Harmony Baptist Church was started in 2006, when a group of friends and co-workers began looking for a place to worship together.
Using What We Had
Pastor Otis B. Lancaster, Sr., and his wife Mabel, opened their home to the congregation. Services were conducted in their living room.
God Provided
In short time, the Lord provided a building for the church to meet in.
All Hands on Deck
Every member, and many friends of the church rallied together to remodel and build out the structure to make it what it is today.
Finishing Touches
A pulpit and prayer kneelers were constructed. A steeple was affixed, and a piano was purchased. It all came together.
A Church Building Was Born
With a place to call home, the people of Harmony invited the community to come and hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The Man of God
At the age of 67, having earned a PhD in Theology from Louisiana Baptist College after retirement, Pastor Lancaster knew a younger man would eventually be needed to lead the flock.
Faithful Servants
As they served in the church, the Lancasters began praying for the next generation, both for the congregation and its leadership.
Ministering to the Church
For 12 years, the church thrived and was blessed by the leadership and service of Otis and Mabel Lancaster. No one knew of the future, or how the Lord was making preparations.
A New Era
In April of 2018, after hearing of the need and Pastor Lancaster's declining health, Nathan and Stephanie Nickerson visited Harmnony Baptist Church for the first time.
God's Preparations
Pastor Nickerson was ordained for the Gospel Ministry in July of 2018 at the First Bible Baptist Church in Harmony, PA where he was saved and was trained for the ministry.
Another New Beginning
After much prayer and the Lord's leading, Pastor Nickerson began his first Sunday at Harmony on August 5th, 2018.

Our Legacy
Harmony Baptist Church, today, owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to the Men of God who have come before and established this local, bible-preaching, New Testament church in the Westernport area that the current generation can call home.
Overcoming Obstacles
We are ever learning and adapting to the challenges presented to us. The Lord is faithful, and through the COVID-19 pandemic, Harmony Baptist Church endured. Since then, having lost Pastor Lancaster, we continue to press on and carry on his vision for the people of Western Maryland and West Virginia.
